Before you contact an installer, you should research whether or not a solar PV project is compatible with your building. Some questions to consider:
- Is my roof south-facing and does it have access to sunlight all day with little or no shading?
- Is my roof in good condition or will it need to be repaired or replaced soon? Replacing a roof once a PV system is already installed can be very costly.
- Do I want to offset my electricity costs or am I trying to reduce other costs such as heating? Note that PV only offsets electricity costs.
- PV is an expensive and long-term investment. Am I prepared for the up-front costs?
You should read through the Buyer’s Guides for more information to help you prepare to buy a solar PV system. |
