Community Wind Maps
As a resource for communities, MTC created an Atlas of maps for communities to use as a first cut overview of the wind resource.
For each town, there are two maps. The Wind Resources maps show ten levels of average wind speed, from less than 12.3 MPH to greater than 21.3 MPH. The Open Space maps show municipal, county, state and federal open space parcels, and areas that have wind speeds averaging greater than 14.5 MPH. This wind speed is generally required to produce electricity economically.
For all maps, the cell size for the wind speed is 200 meters and the scale is 1:120,000. Each cell is approximately nine acres.
