Project Overview:
Palmer Renewable Energy is developing a 38 MW biomass facility in Springfield, MA in an industrial area adjacent to an existing asphalt plant. The plant will use an advanced stoker boiler to convert approximately 900 tons of biomass per day. MTC is providing an unsecured loan to partially finance pre-development activities for the project. The pre-development activities include preliminary design and engineering, environmental permitting, an interconnection study, contracting for fuel purchase and power sales, and project financing. The project has received a MEPA certificate and a Special Permit from the CIty of Springfield. The developer hopes to be in commercial operation in 2011.
