The National Nanotechnology Initiative
The National Nanotechnology Initiative is a four-year, program that authorizes a coordinated research program in nanotechnology across several federal agencies, with total spending authorized at $3.9 billion.
Standards
At the request of the National Nanotechnology Initiative, the American National Standards Institute has organized a panel of experts to create standard terminology and units of measurement relevant to nanoscale research and nanoscale technology development.

The Nanotechnology and Society Research Group (NSRG) is a unit of the Center for High Rate Nanomanufacturing administered by Northeastern University, the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and the University of New Hampshire. The NSRG web site provides information on and links to a wide variety of organizations engaged in research on nanotechnology-related health, safety and environmental impact, as well as information on ongoing research of the NSRG itself.
