Massachusetts Senate Resolution: Connected Health Week

 

HIGHLIGHTING THE COMMONWEALTH AS A GLOBAL HUB FOR HEALTH TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION ON THE OCCASION OF THE FIRST MASSACHUSETTS CONNECTED HEALTH WEEK BEING HELD FROM OCTOBER 21 TO OCTOBER 25, 2013

WHEREAS, THE COMMONWEALTH HAS ENCOURAGED AND SUPPORTED HEALTH TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION THROUGH POLICIES, PROGRAMS AND RESEARCH PARTNERSHIPS ENACTED OVER THE LAST DECADE; AND

WHEREAS, THE COMMONWEALTH IS HOME TO MORE THAN 200 eHEALTH COMPANIES, WITH OVER 5,000 EMPLOYEES AND ESTIMATED ANNUAL REVENUES OVER $8 BILLION; AND

WHEREAS, THE COMMONWEALTH HAS BECOME GLOBALLY-RECOGNIZED AS A HUB FOR HEALTHCARE TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION DUE TO ITS WORLD-CLASS MEDICAL FACILITIES, RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS, INNOVATIVE PUBLIC POLICIES, STARTUP CULTURE AND LEADING INDUSTRY CLUSTERS; AND

WHEREAS, MULTIPLE GLOBALLY-RECOGNIZED CONNECTED HEALTH CONFERENCES AND EVENTS WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE CITY OF BOSTON BETWEEN OCTOBER 21 AND OCTOBER 25, 2013, INCLUDING THE EU-US eHEALTH MARKETPLACE AND CONFERENCE AND THE PARTNERS HEALTHCARE CONNECTED HEALTH SYMPOSIUM; AND

WHEREAS, HUNDREDS OF INTERNATIONAL CONNECTED HEALTH INNOVATORS, ENTREPRENEURS, RESEARCHERS AND PUBLIC OFFICIALS WILL GATHER IN THE COMMONWEALTH TO BUILD CONNECTIONS AND COLLABORATIONS WITH THE HEALTH CARE COMMUNITY; AND

WHEREAS, THESE CONFERENCES AND PROGRAMS HAVE ENGAGED COLLABORATIVELY TO FORM THE FIRST-EVER MASSACHUSETTS CONNECTED HEALTH WEEK; NOW THEREFORE BE IT

RESOLVED, THAT THE MASSACHUSETTS SENATE HEREBY MARKS THE FIRST OCCASION OF MASSACHUSETTS CONNECTED HEALTH WEEK, OCTOBER 21 TO 25, 2013 AND BE IT FURTHER

RESOLVED, THAT A COPY OF THESE RESOLUTIONS BE PRINTED IN THE JOURNAL OF THE SENATE.
