The robotics industry in Massachusetts is a fast growing cluster competing with other emerging robotics industry clusters located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Michigan and elsewhere. An investment by the Innovation Institute in the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council (MTLC) helped raise awareness of the size and growth potential of the robotics industry cluster and organized state support to expand the industry. MTLC is working with leaders of Massachusetts firms along with universities and other industry, finance and service organizations. These leaders meet regularly and are developing a Robotics Roadmap Initiative. Through this investment, we are facilitating the emergence of a community of academics, industry practitioners and other stakeholders who work or have an interest in the robotics industry. As this community develops a shared identity, it has started to shape and launch specific projects and initiatives to advance the fortunes of the emerging robotics industry in Massachusetts.
