The Innovation Institute has worked closely with the Regional Technology Development Corporation of Cape Cod on development of an Innovation Accelerator in the South Coast and Cape Cod regions of Massachusetts. Our investment is enhancing the capacity of experts affiliated with the Innovation Accelerator to identify promising marine science technologies within institutions like Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute (WHOI) and the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) and match them with market opportunities. This effort includes the recruitment of a nationally recognized advisory board in marine sciences to assist technology selections and validate market needs. Innovation Accelerator representatives have three projects under full product development and continue to provide a full range of informational and commercialization services in the region. While these services are common to some institutions in the Boston region, our investment has created the first dedicated commercialization effort of this scale on Cape Cod and the South Coast.
