MassTech is excited to announce the launch of the MassTech Intern Partnership (MTIP) program for summer 2016! Supported by the Baker-Polito Administration and the Massachusetts Legislature, the MTIP program provides stipends to digital technology companies that are starting and scaling-up across Massachusetts, helping fund internships for Massachusetts college students. The program enables eligible companies to engage qualified college students to help keep our dynamic tech sector vibrant and growing throughout the state.
For summer 2016, the MTIP will focus support on digital technology startups and tech companies that are on the critical pathway to growth. We’re looking for companies working in one of the growing segments of digital tech that are 1.) headquartered in Massachusetts; 2.) have 100 or fewer employees; and 3.) want to hire a talented Massachusetts college intern this summer!
To help make internship matching faster and easier this summer, MTIP is teaming up with TechGen and its new, interactive web platform for companies and students. Interested Mass. companies can sign-up for TechGen to post their profiles, list internship openings, and search for skilled intern candidates from campuses across Massachusetts and beyond. Students can also post their profiles and resumes, indicate which in-demand job verticals they’re most interested in, and search and apply directly to internship openings. Once a company has made an internship match, it can simply fill out a short MTIP Application and email it back to MassTech with its supporting TechGen information.

The MassTech Intern Partnership (MTIP) supports the connection between Massachusetts’ exciting tech startups and growing companies, and the amazing student talent based all across the state. MTIP was launched in response to concerns voiced by from the Massachusetts digital tech industry, that the Commonwealth needed to do more to both attract and retain the best workers to support their growth. For these early-stage and growing companies, internships are a valuable tool to ramp-up quickly, address special projects, promote their exciting tech career paths, and source potential hires for the future. By introducing students to the tech career paths available across Massachusetts, internships are also powerful means of recruiting young workers to start and build careers here.
To further respond to industry and student demand, MassTech is partnering with TechGen, an initiative of the New England Venture Capital Association. In addition to providing an internship matching platform, TechGen is also inviting all interested tech companies and students to engage in programs designed to build more community between our region’s tech employers and our next generation talent. Through TechGen, companies have more opportunities to tap into our region’s deep pool of young, talented workers. Students can get involved with TechGen to see more of our vibrant tech scene through fun, creative, engaging events featuring some of our top innovators and cutting-edge workplaces. Working together, we can build-up our tech talent pool to ensure a growing, successful tech economy for years to come. Read more via the Boston Globe.
