MassTech Intern Partnership Launches for Summer 2017
Supported by the Baker-Polito Administration and the Massachusetts Legislature, the MassTech Intern Partnership (MTIP) program provides stipends to digital technology companies that are starting and scaling-up across Massachusetts that directly support internships for Massachusetts college students. The program enables eligible companies to hire eligible interns, helping drive innovation and keeping our tech sector dynamic, vibrant, and growing across the Commonwealth. If a match is made, companies can be reimbursed for up to 50% of the intern's gross salary for up to 2 interns and a total of $3,200/year per individual intern.
The 2017 MTIP program continues to support digital technology startups and tech companies on the critical pathway to growth. In order to participate, companies must 1.) be headquartered in Massachusetts; 2.) have 100 or fewer employees; and 3.) want to hire a talented Massachusetts college intern this summer.
Important Update for 2017: New program eligibility qualifications include:
Companies must work in the digital tech industry. Priority focus areas for 2017 include: Cybersecurity, Digital Health, Internet of Things (IoT), or Robotics; and
Students must be currently enrolled at or a recent graduate of a two- or four-year college, university, or graduate program (Preference for Class of 2016, 2017, or 2018).
Interactive Matching Process: MTIP has partnered with TechGen to utilize its interactive web platform to make the internship matching process faster and easier. Interested Massachusetts companies can post their profiles, list internship openings, and search for skilled intern candidates from campuses across Massachusetts within TechGen's website. Students can also post their profiles and resumes, indicate which industry they’re most interested in, search for internship opportunities, and apply directly through TechGen's website. Once a company has made an internship match, the next step is to complete the MTIP application.
Interested students should start by signing up for TechGen and exploring the resources and internship opportunities posted on their interactive website.
